It has an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U processor, 8GB of RAM (expandable to 16GB) and a 1 TB HDD , It also has a DVD writer which some of the lightweight models lack. It is just over 6 lbs but it has the largest screen on the list.
If your kid needs a new laptop, I love my microsoft surface. Definitley worth the extra bucks, and you can also grab a stylus for note taking on the computer - save some trees! The tablet/laptop version is also great.
